Windsor Wins GWOC Championship
Marcus Windsor won the GWOC Championship helping Wayne to a 7th Place finish and 112 Team points
Following in his brother Anthonys foot steps, Marcus Windsor has brought another GWOC Wrestling Championship to Wayne. This time at the 112 pound weight class. Like a relentless school of Piranhas (Marcus nickname), he tore into state ranked Jordan Brahnam of Miamisburg. Windsor displayed total dominance and outscored his opponent 8-3 to capture his first GWOC Championship. After the match I talked to Marcus. He told me when he was at Prodigy Training Center at the beginning of the season. He had overheard the coach from Miamisburg talking to one of the instructors @ Prodigy. The coach said "We're not worried about him (Windsor) our 112 (Brahnam), should win GWOC." "It made him train harder. " I was wanting the Miamisburg match for the Championship." I got my wish and won. As Marcus walked off he said to me, "I wonder if their worried about me now, smiled and walked away!" Also wrestling for 3rd place was Tyler Goudy at 160 pounds. Tyler was challenged by Devin Croley of Xenia. That match was hard fought, but in the end it was Goudy falling short 3-0. Jarrod Hardrick also brought home hardware for Wayne by defeating Joe Hamilton of Beavercreek in a lopsided affair. Hardricks match was pure dominance and won by a major decision 11-3. And in one of the exciting matches of the tournament Daniel McCaslin needed overtime to win his 5th place match 5-3. Clarence Hancock also placed 3rd in the 285 pound weight class. Hancock has been accomplishing great things despite being outweighed by any where from 50-70 pounds. Since he's no where as big as other heavy weights, he gets overlooked or laughed at. A big mistake indeed.
The Warriors next event is the 2011 Division 1 Sectionals at centerville h.s. Good Luck Warriors.
